The Economical and Equity Party (EEP) president, Chilufya Tayali has called on government to open University of Zambia and Copperbelt University.
This morning (Thursday) at UNZA, Mr Tayali called for the Minister of Higher Education, Nkandu Luo to open the two universities.
He said a long term plan is needed not closing the universities.
Mr Tayali added that renovations will not create more bed spaces.
“If it is dirt, we can clean and I have the suite and tools to help,” he said.
Early this week, Professor Nkandu Luo announced that UNZA and CBU will remain closed because water samples are still showing signs of contamination.
The EPP president has since urged government to state the date when the two universities will open.
