Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution
of Disputes (SACCORD) Executive Director Boniface Chembe has described getting rid of the village and chief of one’s origin from NRCs as a great disservice to the nation’s cultural heritage.
Mr Chembe says his organization is against government’s proposal to
remove some details from National Registration Cards (NRCs).
SACCORD Executive Director was reacting to a recent remark by President Edgar Lungu in which he asserted government's plan to revise details on NRCs that have a tribal connotation as a way of fighting tribalism.
Mr. Chembe further said NRCs could not be linked to the perceived tribalism in Zambia.
