A Lusaka based rapper Jay Rox has shared that he built his studio after getting a loan from his mothe.
Jay Rox says he asked his mum for a loan of K10,000 to buy studio equipment in 2010.
Born Jackson Banda, Jay Rox says his mum lend him the money but made him sign papers and asked him to write up a repayment plan for the sum he borrowed.
The 29-year-old artist is also a song writer and music producer who rose to fame after his crew - Zone Fam released their debut single “Shaka Zulu On Em”.
The talented Jay Rox aka Roxa also performs as a solo artist and is the hit maker of songs such as auto pilot, Joana, not for sello among others hits.
He says Zone Fam album was recorded on the studio equipments he bought from the K10,000.
Jay Rox notes that what started as a loan mushroomed into something with light at the end of the tunnel.
“In 2011, I saw tears in my mothers eyes when she attended and saw us (Zone Fam) win 3 born and bred awards,” he recalls.
His second album “Outside the Rox” which featured Cleo Ice Queen won the Best International African Act at the 2015 BEFFTA Awards.
