Call for Applications: International Training Workshop on Big Earth Data for Disaster Risk Reduction | WestMac Media

Deadline: 24 August, 2018 
DBAR is an international research program for promoting cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road route to advocate and demonstrate the smart use and application of “Big Earth Data” in support of the sustainable development of people and economies at the local, national and regional levels. “Disaster management” is one of the key pillars of sustainable development in the DBAR, along with coastal zone management, agriculture and food security, environmental changes, urban development and heritage conservation.

Floods hit Mtendere houses | WestMac Media

Mtendere Ward 30 Councilor Watson Mtonga has called on government through the Disaster Management Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to quickly respond to the flood disaster that has hit many houses in his ward. 

Mr Mtonga says there is need for a lasting solution to the prevailing problem.

Applications are now open for the UNFCCC–UNU Early Career Climate Fellowship Programme. The fellowship offers young people from developing countries a unique opportunity to start their career at the interface between international climate policy development and research.

Fellowships may last from six months to two years, and Fellows will be selected based on their skills and backgrounds vis-à-vis the needs of UNU and UNFCCC.

Lusaka UPND youths dispel the notion that they set ablaze City market

The United Party for National Development (UPND) in Lusaka has distanced itself from the fire which destroyed property worth millions at Lusaka City Market yesterday. 

UPND Lusaka Province Youth Publicity Secretary Samuel Ngwira says it wrong for some people to suggest the UPND youths set ablaze the market when the party cares for the welfare of its people countrywide.
