Govt to empower 20,000 women under GEWEL project | WestMac Media

Minister of Community Development and Social Services Emerine Kabanshi says 20 thousand women will be empowered this year under the GEWEL project. 

Ms Kabanshi says the project which was launched last year, empowered 12 thousand women with 2, 000-kwacha grants each and mobile phones.

ZGF empowers 11 CSOs with grants | WestMac Media

The Zambian Governance Foundation (ZGF) has awarded 11 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with grants which will complement efforts in the thematic areas of environmental justice, land rights, child labour and youth empowerment. 

The total financial commitment from the EU towards the 11 grants is approximately ZMW 6,000,000.

impactAFRICA data journalism fund kicks off with call for investigative proposals

Deadline: April 16, 2016 
impactAFRICA is offering $500,000 in support for (finalists and winners) pioneering data journalism and innovative reporting that tackles development issues, such as public healthcare, in six African countries: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. 

The support consists of more than just cash prizes. 

impactAFRICA also provide technology assistance in all six countries, as well as one-on-one editorial mentoring, digital skills training, and content syndication services.

Aspiring Entrepreneurs apply for a Global D-Prize ($20,000 Grant Award)

D-Prize is calling to the world’s boldest entrepreneurs. The world has solutions to poverty. Can you distribute them to those in need? Five women clubs empowered with funds in Nsama district

Government through the Department of Community Development has disbursed over K30,000 for women empowerment in Nsama District. 

Nsama District Community Development officer Cain Mbambo revealed the development to ZANIS in Nsama. 

Mr Mbambo said last month five women clubs were empowered with funds that are meant to uplift their living standards.

Apply for UNESCO International Fund for the Promotion of Culture grant

Are you an artist or creator? An NGO or a non-profit private or public body, whose activities contribute to the promotion of culture and artistic creation? 

If your project is compliant with the criteria indicated in the Operational Guidelines of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) International Fund for the Promotion of Culture (IFPC), you can submit your project application and be considered in order to benefit from the financial support of the Fund.

Call for Applications for the Youth Solidarity Fund 2014-2015

Deadline: 12 January 2015 
The Youth Solidarity Fund (YSF) awards grants (up to USD 25,000) to selected projects that demonstrate innovative youth approaches to intercultural or interfaith dialogue. It only supports projects that are entirely developed and managed by youth for the benefit of youth. 

The age definition used by UNAOC to characterize youth is a person who is between 18 and 35 years old.

Please carefully review the Application guidelines and this Annex before completing the Application form.

All eligible youth organizations are encouraged to apply.

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) invites youth organizations and organizations working on youth issues to submit applications for grant opportunity in advancing youth agricultural entrepreneurship and ICT innovations to boost climate-resilient food value chains. The grant program aims at advancing agricultural entrepreneurship and ICT (Information Communication Technology) innovations by young people. Responding to the strategic need to strengthen the involvement of youth in agriculture, the grant will support youth capacity building and entrepreneurship in ICT for agriculture (ICT4Ag) and promote youth employment opportunities.

Apply for Ghent University Master Grants for Students From Developing Countries

Deadline: 24th December, 2014.
Ghent University provides Master Grants to candidates from developing countries who wish to obtain a master’s degree at Ghent University. 

They are awarded for the duration of the studies with a maximum of 2 years. In case of a two-year-programme the scholarship will only be paid for the full term if the student successfully completes the first year of the programme.

Apply for Maypole Fund Grants for Women

Grants from the Maypole Fund are given every year to 10 or 12 applicants. A grant of £750 is given by Maypole Fund. Maypole has financially helped women to set up and take part in conferences, workshops and other events.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has announced a Call for Proposals for the 2014 DAPC Grants to provide funding support to NGOs in low- and middle-income countries. Proposed projects have to connect youth to the activities of the UNODC Youth Initiative. The grant has been issued with the support of the Drug Abuse Prevention Centre (DAPC) of Japan.
