The JWH Initiative provides small grants to developing country youth
professionals in environmental sector to equip themselves with education,
experience and training and strengthen their capacity and efficiency. As
self-nominations are not accepted, the organizations they are working or
affiliated in are responsible to nominate the candidate.
Grant Categories
1. EUR7,000 to two (2) individuals
2. EUR5,000 to four (4) individuals
3. EUR2,500 to ten (10) individuals
The JWH Initiative grant will be awarded to the individuals but the
nominating organization will have to co-sign the Memorandum of
Understanding and be responsible for the participant’s genuineness. The
grant should be used by the selected individuals for strengthening
themselves with the leadership capacities and skills. The grant can’t be
utilized towards organizational purpose.
Also, the nominators must clearly mention the reason for selecting
particular grant category for their candidate and how the grant money will
benefit their candidate.
Nomination Process
1. Environmental Civil Society Organizations and nominators working
in these organizations – identify suitable candidates within their
organizations or networks.
2. Fill the nominating form by their own and/or in collaboration with
the candidate
3. Send the completed nomination form along with other required
documents via email
4. Get your candidate selected and see her/him grow and equip
themselves with the grant support
Eligibility Criteria
-The nominator should be someone who knows the candidate well and is
familiar with her/his aims and goals and can vouch for her/his bona fides.
-Candidates should be ‘young’ people who work or are affiliated with
environmental CSO’s in developing countries and emerging economies.
-Candidates should have shown potential for and interest in further
developing their leadership. -Candidates should be individuals under 35 years of age.
-Candidate should have proof of an excellent track record in: fully
embracing the idea of sustainable development with a focus on ecological
sustainability; being committed to working for the CSO sector; showing
potential and ambition towards becoming a leader in his/her field of
work, such as being inspirational to others, working with communities,
etc.
-Self-nominations are not accepted.
-Applications must be completed in English.
Note: Applications must be submitted via email. Complete application
materials include – completed nomination form, a copy of the candidate’s
CV, and a recent digital picture of the candidate.
