Government through the Department of Community Development has disbursed
over K30,000 for women empowerment in Nsama District.
Nsama District Community Development officer Cain Mbambo revealed the development to ZANIS in Nsama.
Mr Mbambo said last month five women clubs were empowered with funds that are meant to uplift their living standards.
He revealed that among the clubs that were empowered
include Kabobole women’s club which received K10,000 and
Bwafwano women’s club which received K5,000.
Mr Mbambo noted that others are Mwabombeni women
club which received K5, 500, Namukonko club received K6,
600 and Fyabanenshita women club which received K6,000.
The Nsama District Community Development officer
disclosed that the department has also empowered 23
individuals in the district with goats.
He said this is in a bid to assist farmers in the district divert
from crop to livestock farming.
Mr Mbambo has since warned the beneficiaries of the
animals to use them for the intended purposes.
He said the department will continue to monitor the
beneficiaries of both women funds and animals to ensure
reduction of poverty levels among households.
