The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) says it is in the process reviewing its Act in order to make Zambia a more attractive investment destination.
Speaking in an interview with The Business Year, ZDA Director General Patrick Chisanga said the ZDA act is being
reviewed in consultation with all stakeholders particularly the private sector.
Mr. Chisanga explained that stakeholders were involved right from the beginning of the review process and the Agency is still receiving feedback.
He said the main focus of reviewing the ZDA Act is to make Zambia even more attractive for investment and empowerment of Zambians.
“We want to create an environment in which Zambians will be empowered to maximize their potential to do business in
their own country and this will be a major investment in the future of the Zambian economy,” Mr. Chisanga explained.
Mr. Chisanga added that ZDA is facilitating the One Stop
Shop (OSS) Business Registration Facility in order to reduce
the cost of doing business.
Mr. Chisanga said the One Stop Shop concept has drastically
reduced the period of business registration from seven days
to 24 hours.
He said the OSS facility consists of Patents and Company
Registration Agency for company registration, Zambia
Revenue Authority for Tax Payers Identification Number,
National Pension Scheme Authority registration and loan
facilitation through the Citizens Economic Empowerment
Commission.
“Our plan is to have one of these facilities in all the ten
provinces of the country. Currently only two are operational,
one in Lusaka and another in Livingstone.”
The Director General added that at the least, the Agency will
be rolling out one OSS facility in each province per year.
