Business Journalist of the Year Competition

prestigious Partners Guide Young Zambian
Business Journalist of the Year Competition.
This year’s competition is open to Zambian citizens aged between 18 and 29, born on or after 1 January 1986.
Eligibility
- To enter, qualifying candidates must report on a business or economic topic they feel is important to the development of Zambia.
This time around, the competition not only
has print journalists but also broadcast and
photo journalists, although you do not have to be a journalist, just passionate about business and economic issues and able to express yourself by writing, talking or taking photos.
Print Journalists:
Submissions should be an article of between 800 – 1,000 words on a business/
economics topic that the writer considers to be important for the development of
Zambia as well as 250 words on why the
writer considers it important for the media
to report on business/ economic issues.
Broadcast Journalists:
Broadcast journalists should produce a
piece of 4-6 minutes of audio or video
footage with 1 minute on why they feel it is important for the media to report on
business and economic issues.
Photo Journalists:
Photo journalists should produce a piece
with 8 photos with captions to tell a story
on the above mentioned topics plus an
introduction of up to 150 words. A piece of
2-3 photos should also be produced with
captions and a 50 word introduction on why they feel it is important for the media to report on business and economic issues.
All submissions should be accompanied by
a copy of the writer’s NRC and CV to
info@pgzambia.com.
The deadline for this year’s submissions is
09:00 on Monday 13 July 2015.
This year’s 10 finalists will undergo training at the Swedish Embassy in Lusaka between Monday 20 July and Saturday 25 July, with the final taking place on Monday 27 July.
The winner of each category and the overall will be announced at an Awards
Ceremony at Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka on Tuesday 28 July.
The Partners Group will announce the prize for the overall winner soon. Last year’s winner, David Ngenda, won an all-expenses paid trip to Stockholm, Sweden.
The Partners Group is also delighted to
announce that one of this year’s journalism
mentors will be Zambian born Lukwesa
Burak who is a news broadcaster for Sky
World News, London and is regarded as
one of the world’s best in her field after
starting out in regional news in the UK.
Previously, she was a presenter and
interviewer for Africa Edition on eNCA
(formerly called eNews Channel), based in
South Africa.
