The United Party for National Development (UPND) in
Lusaka has distanced itself from the fire which destroyed property worth millions at Lusaka City Market yesterday.
UPND Lusaka Province Youth Publicity Secretary Samuel
Ngwira says it wrong for some people to suggest the UPND
youths set ablaze the market when the party cares for the
welfare of its people countrywide.
Mr. Ngwira says 99 percent of
people found at the Lusaka City Market are UPND
supporters adding that the party cannot think low of
damaging its own people’s property.
He adds that his party respects the rule of law and it will
always follow legal procedure to air its grievances.
And Mr. Ngwira has appealed to government to equip
Zambia Fire Brigade with modern machinery to enable it
carry its functions effectively when there is an emergency.
