Zambia’s Minister of Youth and Sport, Hon. Moses Mawere says the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) is currently building a Youth Resource Centre in Chilanga, Zambia which the Government envisions to be a Centre of Excellence dedicated to mindset education in Zambia.
Mr Mawere said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Zambian Embassy staff on Monday 10th July, 2017.
The Honourable Minister is in Korea
to attend the Minister of Youth Forum 2017 hosted by IYF.
The Forum aims to seek
out various measures to enhance mind set transformation
and critical thinking among youths to encourage them to
overcome the world’s challenges and be great leaders.
Hon.
Mawere was accompanied by Mr. David Musonda from the
Ministry of Youth and Sport and Pastor Woo who is currently
serving in Zambia under the IYF.
Mr Mawere said it is very clear that Korea and Zambia
have many similarities in terms of culture and it was
important that the two countries continue to strengthen
collaboration through organizations such as the IYF.
With Zambia’s youth population being very high, the Honourable Minister said he believes that Missions Aboard should begin
to see the Ministry as an economic ministry and not a social
ministry that can positively contribute to the economic
development of Zambia.
Chargé d'affaires at the Embassy, Faith Mbula-Kangwa said
that the Embassy staff were grateful that the Minster was
able to find time to visit the Embassy and briefed the staff
members on his activities in Korea as well as Zambia.
She
noted that it was important for the Ministry to regularly
update the Embassy on the policies and activities being
carried out in order for the Embassy to incorporate them
into its work mission.
She also informed the Minister that
the Embassy currently has a deliberate programme to
engage the Korean youth through special lectures and talks
aimed at promoting awareness on Zambia’s tourism and
investment opportunities.
