The Road Traffic and Safety Agency (RTSA) has cautioned
motorists in the country to follow all traffic rules during the
Unity and Heroes holiday as the agency has intensified
patrols countrywide.
RTSA Head of Public Relations Fredrick Mubanga is
appealing to all road users countrywide to exercise caution
and obey all traffic rules and regulations during the Unity
and Heroes holiday.
Mr. Mubanga has warned those in the habit of breaking the
law that RTSA officers have been deployed across the
country to ensure that motorists and indeed all road users
follow all traffic rules.
He says the agency together with the Zambia Police service
traffic section will not tolerate anyone who abrogates the
road traffic act and any other traffic regulation.
He states that RTSA is being proactive to ensure that the
nation records zero accident injuries or deaths this holiday
hence calling upon all motorists to ensure they follow the
stipulated speed limits, do not drink and drive, wear
seatbelts, exercise patience and avoid dangerous driving.
Mr. Mubanga says cyclists and pedestrians should also
ensure they follow all traffic rules by using the right lane and
that they don’t drink and cycle or walk about the road.
He has since encouraged members of the public to report erring drivers on 983 or to Whatsapp on 0965429499.
