The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has re-introduced night waste collection in the Central Business District (CBD) and
Kamwala Shopping area.
In a statement, LCC Acting Public Relations Manager George Sichimba says this is in an effort to sustain cleanliness in the two areas following the clean-up exercise and subsequent removal of
street vendors.
Mr Sichimba says the council has since directed all business premises to
provide their own waste bins and bin liners and leave all waste accumulated during the day outside the business
premises for collection at night.
He adds that the local authority has also started monthly billing of all business premises operating from Kamwala and the CBD.
Mr Sichimba pointed that these
developments are with effect from February 1, 2018.
