The Office for Promoting Private Power Investment (OPPPI)
is a unit in the Ministry of Energy whose role is to promote
private sector investment in the development of power
projects in Zambia.
Applications are invited from suitably persons to
fill the position of Investment Officer and Project Engineer
in the Office for Promoting Private Power Investment at
headquarters.
Position: Project Engineer
Main Accountabilities:-
a) Directing pre-feasibility/feasibility studies in the power sector;
b) Ensuring that generation and transmission projects are designed and developed according to set standards;
c) Work with relevant Government entities in fostering private sector participation in the electricity sector;
d) Carry out any other assigned duties from time to time.
Qualifications:-
Applicants must have the following requisites qualifications:-
a) A full grade 12 / form 5 school certificate with a minimum of five O level credits including English and Mathematics;
b) Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering;
c) Registered with the Engineering Institute of Zambia;
d) Minimum of five (05) years’ work experience. Experience in power generation will be an added advantage;
e) Self-motivated and able to work under minimum supervision;
f) Must be willing to work long hours both at the office and away from home.
Conditions of Service:-
Remuneration for the position will be commensurate with and qualification and experience.
Investment Officer x1
Main Accountabilities:-
a) Undertake the promotion of the energy sector in Zambia
as an attractive destination for direct investment by the
Independent Power Producers (IPP) through provision of
such information as economic and business environment;
b) Advise developers on their obligations, rights and
applicable incentives;c) Liaise on behalf of investors with various Government ministries, organisations and institutions in order to assist investors comply with formalities and secure necessary permits, authorisations and licences required in establishing and implementing investment projects;
d) Maintain a register of private sector power developers, their terms and conditions of engagements with government, amendments, suspensions or revocations of rights, renewals of rights and monitor the assignment, cessation or transfer of developer rights;
e) Attend to queries from stakeholders on matters pertaining to economic, environmental and social impacts of the various projects;
f) Act as desk officer during investment missions, local awareness seminars, investment exhibitions in order to market investment opportunities in the country.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have the following requisites qualifications:-
a) A full grade twelve (12) / form 5 school certificate with a minimum of five (5) O level credits including English and Mathematics.
b) Degree in Social Sciences (Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics etc.)
c) Registered with a relevant professional body
d) Minimum of 4 years work experience
e) Self-motivated and able to work under minimum supervision;
f) Must be willing to work long hours both at the office and away from home.
