The Head of State, President Edgar Lungu has urged youths to leverage on the opportunities being created in the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) sector to further improve their livelihood in line with the theme for the 2018 youth celebrations.
The republican president said this when he declared March 9th, 2018 a public holiday.
President Lungu said the declaration of a holiday is in commemoration of the 'International Women's Day' which falls on Thursday, 8th March 2018 and Youth Day which falls on Monday, 12th March 2018.
“As Zambia joins the rest of the world to celebrate the International Women's Day on 8th March, I wish to appeal to members of the public to reflect on the theme of this year by helping enhance the lives of rural women through their contribution to the welfare of the marginalized in society,” said the Head of State.
Meanwhile, the Head of State added that as the country observes the two public holidays, both public and private institutions that offer essential services should ensure that measures are put in place to avoid any disruption.
