Lafarge Zambia is looking to recruit dynamic, motivated, enthusiastic and qualified individuals in the Maintenance
and Production Departments based at Chilanga Plant as follows:
Mechanical Execution Manager x1
Overall
Job Purpose:
• To ensure completion of mechanical execution
maintenance jobs in the Plant with the highest level of
quality, safety and effectiveness at minimum cost to
maximise equipment availability whilst embracing
preventive and predictive maintenance execution practices
and contribute to their improvement.
Main Activities/Responsibilities:
• Oversee the execution and the quality of maintenance
work to be carried out on mechanical equipment,
respecting budget, policies and deadlines.
• Contribute to the development of working methods and
definition of procedures and ensure their
implementation.
• Optimize maintenance operations, using best available
tools and procedures in order to maximise equipment
availability.
• Ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of works and
necessary resources.
• Ensure completion of major operations within schedule
(yearly overhaul).
• Ensure, upon completion of repairs, that equipment is
in good operating condition, ready to meet operational
requirements, fully inspected, tested, clean and safe.
• Provide reporting on repair jobs including consumption
of materials, specific tools, man – hours and skills, and
fills equipment history files.
• Take adequate actions when mechanical incidents
occur.
• Manage the Mechanical team; define the missions and
objectives, carry out their performance reviews,
promote the quality of the work, motivate them and
facilitate communication and relationships.
• Ensure and controls quality of maintenance jobs from
subcontractors.
• Co-ordinates with Shift Managers on the operations and
stoppages of the equipment in readiness for preventive
maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience/Skills:
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical
engineering.
• Strong technical knowledge of Mechanical maintenance
operations.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and motor circuits.
• Knowledge of gearboxes, transmissions, welding
techniques, lubrication, non – destructive tests and
general mechanics.
• Knowledge of cement process is desirable.
• Result driven.
• People Management skills.
• Must be a registered member of the Engineering
Institution of Zambia.
Position: Quarry Manager x1
Overall Job Purpose:
• To manage the safety and production operations in the
quarrying environment.
Main Activities/Responsibilities:
• Define short term and mid-term mining plan.
• Put in place control mechanisms to achieve quality
targets (sampling, blending use of software and raw mix
optimization) in collaboration with the Optimization
Department.
• Optimize raw mix logic.
• Optimize reserves as defined in mining plan.
• Optimize equipment and resources.
• Track & inspect and optimize equipment performance.
• Participate in the coordination and scheduling of
equipment maintenance.
• Obtain and maintain authorizations and permits.
• Identify and action opportunities to augment reserves.
• Prevent encroachment of Company property.
• Develop working methods to comply with local Laws
and Lafarge environmental standards (Air quality,
noise, vibration and water).
• Measure compliance and have an emergency strategy.
• Manage the Quarry team; define the missions and
objectives, carry out their performance reviews,
promote the quality of the work, motivate them and
facilitate communication and relationships.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience/Skills:
• Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology or equivalent
degree.
• Minimum 8 years in mining engineering.
• Blast design and shot firing certificates.
• Good understanding of the cement manufacturing
processes is desirable.
• Result driven.
• People Management skills.
• Must be a registered member of the Engineering
Institution of Zambia.
Position: Head Electrical and Instrumentation x1
Overall Job Purpose:
• To ensure completion of electrical, instrumentation and
control systems’ maintenance jobs with the highest level of
quality, safety and effectiveness at minimum cost to
maximize equipment availability.
Main Activities/Responsibilities:
• Oversee the execution and the quality of electrical
maintenance work to be carried out on plant
equipment, respecting budget, policies and deadlines.
• Contribute to the development of working methods and
definition of procedures and ensure their
implementation.
• Optimise maintenance operations, using best available
tools and procedures in order to maximise equipment
availability.
• Ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of works and
necessary resources.
• Ensure completion of major operations within schedule

• Knowledge of cement process is desirable.
• Result driven.
• People Management skills.
• Must be a registered member of the Engineering
Institution of Zambia.
