Government has directed companies and individuals using
the ‘Proudly Zambian’ slogan to stop using it within six
months, effective March 29, 2018, until it is regularised.
Minister of Commerce, Christopher Yaluma says the Logo
will only be granted to companies that meet the prescribed
criteria.
Addressing the media on the Proudly Zambian Campaign in
Lusaka, Mr. Yaluma said the move is aimed at ensuring that
products being marketed as Proudly Zambian meet certain
qualities.
He said the campaign is aimed at stimulating
production and consumption of quality locally produced
goods and services.
Mr. Yaluma says the campaign’s focus is
addressing the negative consumer perceptions towards
locally produced goods and services.
He says the Ministry has since delegated the campaign’s
implementation to be done by the Zambia Association of
Manufacturers (ZAM) who will be in charge of recruiting
companies or members to the campaign and will be the sole
issuers and authorisers of the use of the Proudly Zambian
mark.
ZAM President, Rozeta Chabala says Zambia has made
steady progress in stocking of locally produced goods in
various chain stalls.
Mrs. Chabala believes the logo will also
help push local products even further.
