1. Financial Capital:
I know someone is already saying, “there you go talking about money, don't you know how
hard it is to find money? thats why my life is not changing”...
Wait... to where with all that speed? Let me first ask questions: how are you reading this? If you are using a smart phone,
you are holding money in your hands.
Have you ever
bought yourself beer? Well, that was money? How many
shoes do you have, even clothes, do you have a TV in the
bedroom, and another in the TV room? Thats money... Do
you have pay TV? Well, you are not poor. At one time or
another, we have all been in possession of some money (capital) but we chose to spend on the now. So don't
complain about lack of financial capital, look where you are
and see what you can sale and start with.
2. Sweat Capital:
As long as you are healthy and physically
fit, that is capital enough. You can put up some physical
work in a venture and make the money you need to finance
your business. Everyone can do some physical work and
make money. Do you need money to carry cement, to dig
ditches, to cut trees, to clean. I know some proud but broke
chap is saying “uhmmm, I can't do that” thats why you are
broke, and the only thing you have is good english with an
American accent. If you are really down, and you know you
need to change your situation, go out there and sweat. You
may need to lower your pride, but don't worry, you will lift it
again when you have money. “Pride nanjala siviyendelana”.
3. Intellectual/ Mental Capital:
When I read comments &
posts on Facebook, and overhear people's conversations... I
can sense there is a lot of intelligence, albeit misplaced. We
have so much cognitive capital of high value that we can
make money and start a business. Just check the level of
cognitive reasoning people use when defending their useless
opinion on anything, that is pure intelligence that can be
translated to financial value. Our 8+ subjects in school have
created a subtle form of intelligence that even if you don't
have a grade 12 or equivalent (whatever that means) you
still have some form of intelligence that has some high
financial value. Everyone has some form of intellectual
capital that can either sale raw, or can attract investors...
However, we use it to analyze useless things like viral social
media scandals, which don't help us in any way.
4. Network Capital:
You cannot go anywhere, when the only
people in your network are your fellow depressed,
digressed and disgusted individuals, with whom you gather
to talk about how hard life is. And you even agree, thereby
activating the universal law “If you touch and agree concerning
anything on earth, it is done in heaven”. Thats why the poor
remain poor, because they have poor friends, live in a poor
neighbourhood, go to a poor church and they are always
agreeing on how poor they are. In order to change your
situation, you need to change your network, who you
associate with. Deliberately start creating friends in high
places, or atleast those who are also trying and hustling.
Friends of value don't happen by chance, you actually have
to seek them and make them friend. Not ati “noo, we have
been friends since grade one” and both of you are still broke
since grade one and the only stories you have are for noise
making in class... leave that chap and make friends who will
challenge you.
5. Skill Capital:
I don't know how many times we must talk
about this. Without a specific skill, its okey for you to be
broke. Yes, its fine, we understand you, just be broke.
Because, how do you honestly hope to change your life,
when you don't know how to do anything. How? The world is
looking for skilled people. People who have a unique ability
to do something so well. Even sweeping is a skill. You can
perfect your sweeping skill so well one day you will be called
to sweep in high places and get paid more. I meet people
who say, “I want a job” when I ask what job, they answer
“anything”... Anything? What kind of value is that? I challenge
you to pick something, train yourself and be so good at it no
one can ignore you. “Your gift (skill) shall put you before
kings”... Not your complaining.. Skill...!!!
