Police in Lusaka have arrested Evelyn Hone College union president and his colleagues.
And atleast 207 more students in the Evelyn Hone riot which happened last night at about 23:00 hours. This brings the total number of those arrested to 333. Among the 207 arrested last night, 119 are male while 88 are female students.
However, students who were not arrested says their colleagues were arrested merely for speaking out on the irregularities of the examinations body, Technical and Vocational Training Authority (TEVETA).
Students indicates that they resorted to going to the streets last night and rioted over their misplaced results by TEVETA.
During press time, students told WestMac Media that a good number of students had not received their last semester results from TEVETA.
Meanwhile, Lusaka Central Member of Parliament, Margaret
Mwanakatwe has intervened in the matter and spoken with the Inspector General of Police, Kakoma Kanganja.
And Mr Kanganja has since promised to release all arrested students today.
The Zambia National Students Union (ZANASU) has also called for the immediate release of the arrested students so that they can continue to enjoy their academic freedoms and other
related freedoms.
