Zambia’s High Commissioner to South
Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba made the remarks today on the occasion of the
double launch of the Emmanuel Mwamba Community Shield Sports Tournament and the Imbuto Empowerment Initiative at Kasama Stadium.
He stated that the games will keep the youths busy from engaging in illicit activities such as beer drinking, dagga smoking and sexual immorality among others.
And Ambassador Mwamba observed that a lot of women in Kasama are failing to make ends meet, hence his initiate to empower them with some funds in form of a revolving loan.
He said this in a speech read on his behalf by the Programme Team leader, Emmanuel Mambwe.
The activities started with a march past from Shoprite to Kasama Stadium the venue for the tournament.
Meanwhile, the launch of the Imbuto Empowerment Initiative saw twenty women groups comprising ten members being empowered with K1, 000 per group.
And programme team leader, Mambwe who was flanked by his assistants; Gloria Chali and Fanny Zimba disclosed that next weekend, more women groups are expected to benefit from the project.
The Emmanuel Mwamba Community Shield Sports Tournament and the Imbuto Empowerment Initiative is a brain child of former Northern Province Permanent Secretary, now Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa; Emmanuel Mwamba.
Emmanuel Mwamba has since been proposed by some Kasama residents as their ideal area Member of Parliament in the 2016 general elections.
