When the minister of health talks about health in Zambia, does he remember mental health?
How many mental hospitals do we have in Zambia?
Are they at province at least?
Is their a program to fight mental illness like there is for malaria, male circumcision, etc?
Does a hot line exist or even a department at council level, which we can call to inform the authorities about mad people and they come pick them or start monitoring them at local level?
In other words, we have social welfare workers for orphans and underprivileged kids, do we have anything of the sort
for mental health, especially madness?
Or it's just chainama hospital in Lusaka?
I am bothered how as a society we are letting people get mad because of depression, social or economic trauma,
schizophrenia, etc.
