The 21-year-old boxer went down to the Irish 40-year-old Christina McMahon in a close 10-round bout for the WBC bantum weight Gold title.
Catherine Phiri, a grade eleven pupil has for the first time lost a match since she began her boxing career.
In an interview with ZNBC new WBC Champion, McMahon said “Catherine will be a world champion by the age of 24.

Records show that McMahon has become Ireland’s latest world champion by winning the interim WBC Gold bantamweight title.
Before the fight in an exclusive interview with the media McMahon said she did not come to Zambia for a holiday but to fight and deny Catherine, a WBC silver champion, a chance to grab the vacant top WBC belt.
