Recent military onslaught against Boko Haram’s hide-out in Sambisa Forest led to the rescue of hundreds of women and children. Among them were over 200 young girls who are now found to have been impregnated by members of the sect.
An official working with the girls rescued from Sambisa forest recently said the girls used as sex slaves by Boko
Haram during their ordeal in captivity are now saying they do not want to keep their pregnancies.
Hear what Hadizi Waziri told New York Times reporters who visited one of the IDP camps recently;
“We are going to have another set of Boko Haram. Most of these women now, they don’t want these pregnancies. You
can’t love the child”.
The biggest dilemma is that most of the babies being nursed by some of these girls are products of sex slavery in Boko
Haram captivity.
