By David Chishimba
The education system in Zambia is highly academic and based on passing examinations mainly through memorization with no regard for critical thinking, learner participation and technical skills.
Thus, the education system weakens the relationship between education and skills
development on one hand as well as individual earnings and economic growth on the other hand.
This has ultimately resulted in the production of unskilled graduates, a situation that continues to undermine
the quality and productivity of the labour force, consequently compromising on the employability of our youth, let alone their chances of entering into self-employment.
