The Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) has started issuing licenses to drilling companies in Zambia as
required by the WARMA Act of 2011 after the Minister of
Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental
Protection issued Statutory Instrument No. 18;19, and 20
pertaining to groundwater regulations, borehole drilling and
licensing of drilling companies and drillers.
Drillers Association of Zambia Chairperson, Christopher Chilongo says so far the following companies and members of the association have been issued with Drilling Licenses:-
1. Baba Drilling & Explorations Ltd.
2. ML Drilling & Explorations Ltd.
3. Lusaka Drilling Company Ltd.
4. Geo Well Resources Ltd.
Mr Chilongo indicates that pending applications to be approved this week include Simplex Drilling & Explorations Ltd and Africa Drilling & Explorations Ltd who are also members of the Drillers Association of Zambia.
Mr Chiolngo has since reiterated that WARMA is encouraging all drilling companies to apply and obtain drilling licenses.
He further pointed that the Drillers Association of Zambia is equally doing all it can to assist its members in obtaining drilling licenses.
