Government has seconded and deployed 54 teachers to the
Republic of Seychelles as expatriates.
Teaching Service Commission Chairperson, Stanley Mhango,
says the 54 teachers were selected following interviews from
a number of teachers from the ten provinces of Zambia.
Mr. Mhango says the 54 teachers will are expected to leave
for Seychelles in the second week of April and will work as
expatriates in that country for a period of two years.
He says the teachers will be reintegrated into the Zambian
government teaching service upon return from Seychelles
because their deployment to that country is under the
government to government arrangement.
ZANIS in Kabwe reports that Mr Mhango was speaking in an
interview at Kabwe Trust School today where he is also
holding an interactive meeting with principals of colleges
drawn from 12 public colleges of education.
He said the move by government to deploy expatriate
teachers to another country was the first of its kind as other
teachers were going to neighbouring countries in their own
capacity.
The Teaching Service Commission Chairperson said the
deployed expatriates will result in the teachers being
exposed to the outside world and earn Zambia foreign
exchange as they will investment back home during the
period they will serve abroad.
