The Teaching Service Commission Chairperson Stanley M’hango has disclosed that the Commission will start subjecting Teachers to aptitude tests before recruiting them.
Speaking when members of the Teaching Service Commission paid a courtesy call on Kitwe district Commissioner Binwell Mpundu yesterday, Mr. M’hango said some teachers can barely read and write despite having the right credentials.
He said the introduction of the aptitude tests will enable the Commission to recruit competent teachers.
Mr. M’hango said the aptitude tests will be at the same time in all districts to avoid multiple applications by some candidates adding that the Commission will also localize the recruitment process so that teachers end up areas they are conversant with.
Meanwhile Mr. M’hango said 263 teachers with forged qualifications have been dismissed while the process of scrutinizing continues.
He said the commission has also discovered that some individuals are forging transfer letters for teachers indicating that the Commission will not tolerate such misconduct and all those found wanting will be dismissed.
