A food processing company is set to open in Livingstone before the end of 2015.
Fallsway Food Processing plant is expected to be producing about 15 products ranging from various juices, mineral water, dairy products, jam and tomato products.
The company is anticipated to create 1,000 jobs to Livingstone residents and will being located in Livingstone with outlets in Kazungula, Kalomo and Sinazongwe in the initial stage and later rolling out to the entire Southern Province.
Majority of the jobs will be given to indigenous Zambians according to the Chief Executive Officer, Shigbhai Volla.
Mr. Volla who is the sole proprietor of the company said a sum of US$1.5 million has been invested in the project.
He said the company also intends to support 3,000 small-scale farmers in Southern Province.
“The project will support about 3,000 small-scale farmers through ordering their produce to reduce the market challenges faced by most of the farmers,” said Mr. Volla in an interview on Sunday, adding that the company will expand to other parts of southern province.
Mr. Volla said the company is scheduled to start production this year as most of the installations have been completed.
