NAPSA keen on supporting the needy

Zambian youth shines at 2015 JCI World congress

A worldwide community, Junior Chamber International (JCI) of young active citizens who are changing the world, one community at a time officially awarded the “Ten Outstanding Young Person Honorees for 2015 at a colorful JCI TOYP Awards ceremony in Kanazawa, Japan.

A policy guide for advancing youth entrepreneurship, jointly developed by the Commonwealth Secretariat and UNCTAD, was launched on 24 November 2015 at a business forum taking place ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Malta (27–29 November).

The Youth Entrepreneurship Policy Guide, launched by the Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General Deodat Maharaj, and UNCTAD's Director of the Division on Investment and Enterprise James Zhan, aims to support the creation and strengthening of national systems that provide young people with the entrepreneurial skills, resources and networks they need to start and grow businesses.

2015 teachers' recruitment not on merit - ZNUT

Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) has called for an investigation into the 2015 teachers recruitment alleging that Trainee teachers with months remaining before graduation are among the 4,450 teachers recruited leaving out many graduates, some with superior university degrees.

ZNUT Public Relations Officer Joe Kasaka added that the recruitment was not on merit but riddled with inconsistencies and irregularities.

FISP increased

Government has increased the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) for the 2015-2016 Agricultural season from the current 598, 723 to 761, 295 beneficiary farmers.

Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda says this entails that in addition to the 214, 000 farmers that are under the e- voucher system for newly introduced crops, the total targeted beneficiary farmers under FISP has equally increased from the 1, 000, 000 targeted in the 2014-2015 season to 1, 162, 572 in the 2015-2016 Agricultural season.
