The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Child Development says it is concerned with young people who are failing to pay back
money acquired under Youth Development Fund ( YDF).
Provincial Coordinator Susan Munalisa says her Ministry is trying to put up measures that will help recover the money
from affected youths.
Ms. Munalisa says young people who would want to access the funds are now advised to form youth groups for easy
follow ups.
She said this during the Voice Radio Program on Breeze FM this morning, whose focus was on how young people can
benefit from YDF in the province.
She however, says there are youths who are paying back the loans and that they are doing well in their businesses.
And Ms. Munalisa says her ministry’s role is to eradicate poverty among vulnerable youths in communities.
She says it is therefore important for youths who access YDF to pay back the loans, in order to allow more youths access
the money.
And NKTECH Business Entrepreneur Director Enos Banda says government has faced challenges in following up on youths who accessed loans and are not paying back because it usually considers youths, who are not yet in business.
Mr. Banda says youths who have existing businesses have been denied access to YDF, a situation he described as unfortunate.
