General Nursing Council of Zambia has nullified November/December paper I, II, III, IV, V and VI qualifying GNC theory examinations for Registered Nurses (RN) and Pre-Service Registered Nurse Midwives (RNM) which started on Monday 13th November, 2017 and scheduled to end on 20th November, 2017.
However, GNC Registrar and CEO Aaron Banda says practical examinations namely; Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) scheduled for all categories of nursing and midwifery training programmes, RN and RNM inclusive are not canceled therefore, will proceed as originally planned from 20th to 30th November, 2017.
Mr Banda says the nullification of the said theory examinations is necessitated by traces of examination leakages brought to the attention of the council (GNCZ).
He says the nullification of the said examinations has affects a total of 1797 students of which 466 are pursing old RN curriculum, 1291 are pursuing new RN curriculum while 40 are pursuing the RNM curriculum.
Mr Banda furthers says the nullified examinations are superseded by RN (old curriculum), RN (new curriculum) and RNM qualifying GNCZ Theory Examinations are scheduled to start on Monday, 11th December, 2017 and end on 18th December, 2017.
Meanwhile, GNCZ has since apologized for the inconvenience these changes might have caused and urges all the affected students and their parents and sponsors to remain calm and supportive to the council's activities aimed at addressing the situation and prevent future recurrence of the same.
