Six pupils have drowned in a small lake at Kachipapa farm in
Serenje District – Central Province.
Central Province Minister, Sydney Mushanga, confirmed the
development to the media in Kabwe.
Mr. Mushanga has described the drowning of the six young
pupils as a big loss to the bereaved families and the
government.
He said the accident happened yesterday around 15:00 hours after a motorised boat they were in capsized in the
middle of the lake.
According to ZNBC, the Provincial Minister said the bodies of the victims have
not yet been retrieved but the search by the police and the
fire brigade in the area has been intensified.
He urged the bereaved families to remain calm and seek
God’s face during the difficult time.
The minister has assured the affected families of
government support.
Mr. Mushanga has since left for Serenje for an on the spot
check.
