Public applauds, condemns Jet Stores for drenching two Lusaka youths with paint

By Staff Reporter, LUSAKA
Jet Stores management at Levy mall in Lusaka has been applauded at the same time condemned by the general public for drenching two Lusaka ladies (identities withheld) with paint after they were accused of shoplifting.

One, between the two youths who were accused of shoplifting at Jet Stores yesterday is alleged to be a Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) presenter.

But ZNBC Corporate Affairs Manager Masuzyo Ndhlovu says the lady mentioned in the story is not a ZNBC employee.

In a statement monitored by WM Media, Mr Ndhlovu stated that Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation wishes to distance itself from the story entitled 'ZNBC presenter caught shoplifting' which is making rounds on social media.

He added that the Corporation will continue its own independent investigation and issue a comprehensive statement in due course.

Meanwhile, society has received Jet Stores action with mixed feelings with some section saying “drenching a suspect with paint is violation of Law as it is harmful to human body.”

And other sections of society have praised Jet Stores for painting the ladies saying “it is a lesson to other thieves.”
