Zambia’s Ambassador to the USA Palan Mulonda has urged the business community in Reading, Pennsylvania to invest in Zambia as there are opportunities in various sectors.
Ambassador Mulonda noted that Zambia is strategically positioned for investors to conduct business with the rest of the world adding that the environment was indeed suitable.
He stated that the Zambian government had and was continuing to put in place both soft and hard infrastructure in order to ensure that the country remains an ideal, secure as well as stable investment destination.
The Zambian envoy was speaking in Reading, PA at a meeting hosted for businesses in the Reading area by the
African Super Global Centre (AGSC) at the Berks County Community Foundation.
Ambassador Mulonda who made a presentation on the investment opportunities available in Zambia appealed to the business community to consider investing in the agricultural, mining, energy, tourism and infrastructure
sectors.
The Ambassador explained to the business community present that there were several available methods of investing in Zambia.
He said these included joint ventures,
and public private partnerships.
He commended the AGSC for the efforts that it had made towards promoting business ties especially among the diaspora in the U.S, with entrepreneurs in Africa and beyond.
“It is indeed gratifying to note that the AGSC is, within the coming year, planning to hold a business conference in Zambia under the theme “Empowering entrepreneurs by bringing their products to the market place”.
This should act as a great opportunity for both Zambian and U.S entrepreneurs who wish to begin or expand their business reach either side of the Atlantic, ”Ambassador Mulonda said.
Ambassador Mulonda encouraged the AGSC to keep up the spirit of promoting trade and investment especially within
the context of utilizing programs such as the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
Ambassador Mulonda was welcomed by the Berks County Community Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer of the African Super Global Centre (AGSC).
He was accompanied by Counsellor (Economic) James Chisenga, First Secretary (Trade) Inonge Mwenya and First Secretary (Press and Public Relations) Patricia Littiya.
