Government says it has no intention of introducing uniforms for teachers, adding that teachers should not panic as such a policy does not exist.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Ministry of General Education Spokesperson, Hilary Chipango said social media reports have resulted in agitation and anxiety among teachers in the country.
Mr. Chipango confirmed that the story trending on social media suggesting that teachers will start wearing uniforms is not true.
He added that not even the Teaching Service Commission is aware of the issue of introducing uniforms for teachers.
Mr. Chipango pointed that the ministry does not make policies without engaging teachers and other concerned stakeholders.
And Teaching Service Commission Secretary, Sandra Ndhlovu has also refuted claims that the commission held a meeting on 8th and 11th November to discuss the introduction of uniforms for teachers.
