Zambian Voice Executive Director, Chilufya Tayali has said, it is the prerogative of the President to choose who he thinks is capable of being a minister, however, he say he reserve the right to
pass his comment.
Mr Tayali says, he was shocked when he heard that Kaingu had been appointed as Minister of Education.
“Firstly, I did not understand the
connection of Kaingu to the Patriotic Front (PF). I never saw Kaingu campaigning for Edgar Lungu. The only time I saw
him close to the PF is when he revolted against Dr Nevers Sekwila Mumba,” he says.
In unconfirmed reports revealed to him, Mr Tayali alleges that Kaingu is a brother to the First Lady Esther Lungu.
“This is the only thing that makes sense to me otherwise the man is just a No! No!” says Mr Tayali.
Mr Tayali suggests that a minister of Education, is expected to be a man that represents some standards of morality that are beyond reproach, because he is a role model to the young ones who are going to be future leaders.
“Hon. Kaingu is a polygamist which does
not symbolize morality in our Christian Nation.”
He adds that the behaviour of Hon. Kaingu's daughter Iris, is an indictment on the Minister in terms of imparting morality
and discipline in his children.
“Apart from the porn video that went viral, Iris is just not a cultured young lady, and you can see it each time she appears in public. Yes Parents are not totally responsible for the behaviour of their children especially when they have grown up, but certainly something can be apportioned to the Minister in
relation to Iris' behaviour. It is good to standby your children when they are in trouble but Hon. Kaingu underplayed the actions of his daughter, instead he was busy asking where the boy was and why he
never got the same public ridicule his daughter received,” says Mr Tayali.
Mr Tayali says Hon. Kaingu does not deserve to be education minister.
“If Edgar wants to do something for his alleged brother-in-law, let him give him something else away from
public spotlight,” he says.
