A Lusaka based political scientist, Saboi Imboela has said that democracy is not a theological concept instead it is a political concept.
She says the way people mix concepts is amazing.
“Democracy is not a theological but political/human concept.” She says.

Ms Imboela says to say a leader is chosen by God when people are the ones who go to vote for themselves is a clear mix of the will of God over leadership.
“The leaders who God chose in the Bible were really chosen by him. That's why some churches don't vote. So people should blame themselves for their poor choices, its not God's will, but peoples will.”Ms Imboela says.
She says even in Israel, at a time when God chose leaders, there was a time when the people of Israel insisted that they wanted to make the choice themselves.
“And so to allow their free choice to prevail as usual he would at time to
time allow them to have a leader of their choice and not His.” She says.
Ms Imboela says in this 21st century, democracy has prevailed and like
everything else God has given us, the free will to choose for ourselves.
“I never see God at Chisongo ward where I vote from on the queue voting, but thousands of eligible Zambians waiting for their turn. Once we make a choice, the responsibility of that outcome should be fully accepted by us. We shouldn't push bad choices to God because that's why he gives us a chance.” She says.
