The Southern African Alcohol Policy Alliance (SAAPA) says
alcohol abuse in Zambia is greatly hampering productivity
and increasing levels of poverty.
The organization has charged that people who
are mandated to ensure development planning like the
council have failed.
SAAPA President Philip Chimponda said a high level of
alcohol consumption is the greatest social challenge that is
hindering development.
Mr Chimponda said there is need for a strong voice against
alcohol abuse.
He added that his organisation is working with various
Zambian government ministries and stakeholders to ensure
a policy that will regulate alcohol consumption. Credit: PFm
