A young talented fashion designer and make up artist, Angela Mulenga who designed a dress that won 2010 prestigious M-net face of Africa award has died.
Ms Mulenga, 28, died in a road traffic accident in Lusaka on Saturday night at around 23hrs local time.
She was Manager of Legit store in Zambia at the time of her passing.
At age 16, Ms Mulenga made her debut in Zambia’s fashion industry, by designing for local and then, upcoming musician, Angela Nyirenda. By the time she turned 18, Ms Mulenga was one of top ten fashion designers in Zambia.
In 2007, at the age of 20, Ms Mulenga won the Young Bridal Designer Awards, in Lusaka Zambia.
In October the same year, she showcased for the first time at the ‘Zambia Fashion Week’ making her the youngest fashion designer to enter the show.
In February, 2010, Ms Mulenga was given a rare opportunity as one of only ten fashion designers across the continent, to showcase her work at the prestigious M-net face of Africa, contest. Ms Mulenga's dress won!!!
For wearing Ms Mulenga's dress, Lukundo Nalungwe became the first Zambian to win the 2010 prestigious M-Net Face of Africa award after she beat nine other contestants in a pulsating contest held at Eko Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.
