A copper mining company, Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC) owned by Barrick Gold Corporation situated in
the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi this Wednesday attracted thousands of youths and adults for job interviews.
The interviews took place at Kitwe Trades School on 4 May 2016 from 08:00-17:00hrs.
The Company was looking for experienced and qualified individuals to be considered for the following positions: Truck Technicians; HV Electricians; Auto Electricians; Boiler Makers; Mechanics and Electricians.
Among other people who went for the LMC interviews, Langford Banda in an exclusive interview with WM Media said
he was amazed by the number of job seekers.
“I came for the Lumwana Copper Mine Ltd interviews at Kitwe Trades School. To my surprise, upon arrival I found bunches
of people like there was a riot or something but guess what? They were all there for the interviews too. All are Artisans,” he said.
Mr Banda added that unemployment in Zambia is beyond reasoning.
And Niza Mwewa Machona said now is the appropriate time to think outside
the box.
“Instead of completely relying on being employed it's high time we embraced entrepreneurship,” he said.
