Lusaka's based youths and daughters of the Republican president, Edgar Lungu and Vice president of the United Party for National Development (UPND), Geofrey Bwalya Mwamba alias GBM have expressed interest in contesting the 11th August 2016 tripartite elections.
President Lungu's daughter, Tasila Lungu is set to contest as Councilor for Nkoloma ward in Lusaka’s Chawama constituency on the Patriotic Front (PF) ticket.
Tasila's father was a Member of Parliament for Chawama constituency before he took up the role of republican presidency in 2014 and was succeeded by the current area Member of Parliament, Lawrence Sichalwe who is also the immediate past councillor for Nkoloma ward.
Few years ago, Tasilla worked as a community advocate (community lawyer) in the United State of America and specialised in advocacy for the (differently abled) disabled community. Her work included advocacy for more companies, corporate
and government agencies to ensure they had a workplace policy for the disabled and ensure that they hired and retained disabled people.
Academically, she holds a Bachelors Degree (from Immaculta University)
and a Masters Degree in Ciminal Justice (from Saint Joseph’s University).
Meanwhile, Mr Mwamba's daughter Sibongile Mwamba has also expressed interest in contesting the 2016 general election as Member of Parliament for Kasama Central on UPND ticket.
She is a former diplomat who worked in
Windhoek, Namibia as First Secretary –
number three in hierarchy from the High
Commissioner.
And her father is current Member of parliament for Kasama Central Constituency.
