Don't chase pupils away over unpaid school fees, East schools told

Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo has implored school authorities in the region not to send away pupils who have not paid school fees. 

Mr. Kasolo said he had received reports from traditional leaders that some farmers were selling maize to briefcase buyers at very low prices in order to raise funds to pay for their children’s school fees.

According to a statement made available to WM Media, this year Nyamuka Zambia saw a significant uplift in the number of women applying for the Nyamuka Zambia business plan competition. 

UNIP unveils a list of youthful candidates for Southern Province

The United National Independence Party (UNIP) in Southern Province has unveiled five adopted parliamentary candidates and more than 45 aspiring councillors most of whom are youths and females. 

The five parliamentary candidates are Ian Munkombwe for Livingstone Constituency, Lubinda Silumesi for Katombola Constituency, Cheelo Hakasenke for Magoye Constituency, Broaden Chikalanga for Chikankata Constituency and Febby Mapulanga for Mazabuka Central Constituency.

Lusaka youth shoots hubby to death

A Lusaka based youth identified as Mr Akakanda Lubinda Liteebele has been shot to death by his wife.  

In a confirmation statement to WM Media Deputy Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga stated that the murder occurred today at around 03:00hrs at unknown house number off buluwe road woodlands extension in which Mr Akakanda Lubinda Liteebele aged 30-years was shot at, five times by his wife precious Longwe Liteebele aged 30-years.

ECZ records 60 forged grade 12 certificates from aspiring candidates

Minister General Education John Phiri says the Examination Council of Zambia -ECZ - has so far recorded 60 forged grade 12 certificates from aspiring candidates. 

Speaking to journalists at media briefing held at the Ministry of General Education in Lusaka yesterday, Dr Phiri said the high number of counterfeit grade 12 certificates presented by some people aspiring for elective office is alarming.

Kapiri Mposhi fatal accident claims life of Ndola youth

A Ndola based youth only identified as Frederick Mutupa died in a fatal Kapiri Mposhi accident which occurred on Saturday night. 

Mutupa, 20, died on the spot due to severe body injuries.

The accident occurred on Saturday at about 20:30hrs at Kabowa area, 7kms away from Kapiri Mposhi Police Station towards Kabwe along Great North Road.

3 children die in infernal in Mazabuka

Three children in Chief Mwanachingwala’s area in Mazabuka district of Southern Province have died in an inferno. 

Southern Province Police Commissioner Gideon Phiri confirmed the incident in an interview with ZANIS in Mazabuka this morning.

Levels of unemployment worries youths

The launch of the 2015 National Youth Policy by the Republican President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu was indeed a momentous and historic occasion for the youth of Zambia. It was the first time that a youth policy was being accompanied by an action plan for youth empowerment and employment. 

However, a good number of youths across the country have continued to complain that there are no jobs in Zambia. Statistics indicate that unemployment rate in Zambia increased to 13.30 percent in 2014 from 13.10 percent in 2013.

RoboRAVE awards Zambian youths for scooping 4th position at the international robotics competition in New Mexico, USA

A team of Zambian youths tagged Team A and B which participated in a 2016 RoboRAVE international robotics competition in New Mexico, USA emerged fourth and fifth in the competition which took place on the 7th May, 2016.

Team B took fourth position while Team A took the fifth position and a certificate was awarded to the Zambian team for fourth position.

The company states that Wizkid show didn't go as planned. 

“October 29th 2016 is the proposed date for us to bring Sean Paul in Zambia. We are aware the previous planned performance didn't go as planned but then we had absolutely nothing to do with that and besides Transblasts Entertainment was not even born yet,” Transblasts Entertainment states. 

Zambian youth behind the dress that won 2010 prestigious M-net face of Africa award dies

A young talented fashion designer and make up artist, Angela Mulenga who designed a dress that won 2010 prestigious M-net face of Africa award has died. 

Ms Mulenga, 28, died in a road traffic accident in Lusaka on Saturday night at around 23hrs local time. She was Manager of Legit store in Zambia at the time of her passing. 

Hamududu calls for campaigns based on ideas

Outgoing UPND Bweengwa Member of Parliament Highvie Hamududu says there need to reject politics of violence in the Country. 

Mr. Hamududu says political parties should wary that investors cannot put money in a Country where they know their investments would not be safe. 

He says there is need therefore, to bring in an element of certainty in the Country as political parties conduct their campaigns for the forthcoming elections.

Mr. Hamududu says political parties should therefore compete based on ideas.

A copper mining company, Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC) owned by Barrick Gold Corporation situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi this Wednesday attracted thousands of youths and adults for job interviews.

Don't inconvenience pupils, avoid a repeat of last year’s poor management of ICT exams - Dr Phiri

Minister of General Education John Phiri has urged school administrators in the country to avoid a repeat of last year’s poorly administered ICT examinations and urged teachers prepare adequately.

A 33-year-old man of Mtendere compound only identified as Anthony Nkhoma is suspected to have been stabbed to death by his wife, Elizabeth Lungu Nkhoma. 

Mrs Nkhoma, 26, allegedly stabbed her husband to death on Tuesday around 21:00 hours.
