Be productive and engage in progressive activities, young people told

By Staff Reporter, NDOLA
Copperbelt province permanent secretary Howard Sikwela says young people should be productive and engage in progressive activities.

Speaking on Monday when he officially opened a two day workshop on the “Vision 2030 Sustainable Development and the Sixth National Development Plan for 2015,” Reverend Sikwela alluded that lack of productive activities is one cause of too much of alcohol abuse among young people on the Copperbelt.

At a workshop which was jointly organized by Civil Society from Poverty Reduction at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Rev. Sikwela said most of the youths have aspirations and dreams to own businesses and become successful, hence the need to involve them in national development plans. He noted that there is too much alcohol abuse among young people in the country and Copperbelt as a province.

And Rev. Sikwela alleged that majority of young people resort to alcohol abuse because they are not being incorporated into sustainable programmes by the various stakeholders.
