Singer Mozegater has asked the Lusaka High Court to dissolve his marriage to Bernadette Jacinta Connaughton
Mulenga on grounds that the couple had lived apart for a continuous period of seven years.
In his divorce petition filed in the principal registry on Tuesday, Mozegater, whose real name is Justine Mulenga, stated that his wife lived in Ireland and that there was no love and affection between them.
The Lusaka-based singer best known for his Chiunda music submitted that his marriage to Bernadette, a teacher, had
broken down irretrievably.
He stated that the couple lawfully got married on March 28, 2007 and that they lived together as husband and wife in
Lusaka’s Libala area.
Mozegater submitted that there was no child born to the couple and that there has been no previous proceedings in any court in Zambia or elsewhere with reference to the said marriage.
The singer stated that there has been agreement between the parties for support of either of them in the event of the
decree being granted.
Mozegater prayed that the marriage be dissolved and that the court should not make any order regarding property
settlement.
