Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) and Police are investigating circumstances that led to the dismal of Radio Phoenix Journalist, Christine Ngwisha by management.
Ms. Ngwisha had featured Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili on a Radio Phoenix programme and the radio station management later fired her.
Commenting on the information obtaining on the ground that government had a hand in Ms. Ngwisha dismissal, Mr. Kambwili categorically denied that government had
a hand in the sacking of Ms. Ngwisha.
And Mr. Kambwili who is also Informations and Broadcasting Services Minister at a media briefing held in Lusaka today, threatened to revoke the broadcasting license for Radio Phoenix, a local radio station in Lusaka if it continues to be anti-government.
He said that Radio Phoenix in the past operated above board but regretted the current unfolding events at the station of being partisan.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kambwili has urged Post Newspaper Reporters against being used by their employer, Fred M’membe stating that jobs are very difficult to find.
He cited that some of the Post Journalists who were terminated from employment had come to him seeking employment.
Mr Kambwili commended other media houses for being objective in their reporting and urged them to desist from
distorting facts.
“Be fair and objective in your reporting and don’t be used by Fred. He will fire you and you’ll come here in my office
crying for employment,” he said.
