Vice President Inonge Wina says government remains resolute in the promotion of Information Communication
Technologies, ICTs, in line with the Vision 2030.
Mrs Wina says the use of ICTs must be fully adopted across all sectors of the economy.
ZNBC reports that the Vice President said this in Lusaka , at the ICT Business
Forum, in a speech read for her by Transport, Works, Supply and Communications minister Yamfwa Mukanga.
Mrs Wina said the ICT Business Forum is a unique platform for all stakeholders in ICT sector which she described as the backbone of social economic development.
And Mr Mukanga, in a speech read on his behalf by his Permanent Secretary Mbololwa Muyaba said Zambia can develop at a faster rate through the innovative use of ICTs.
He said emerging technologies provide a unique opportunity for Zambia to leapfrog from a developing country to a developed nation.
And immediate past Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union, Hammadou Toure praised the
organisers of the forum, saying it is timely as ICT is the connerstone of any development programme.
And Vice President Inonge Wina has urged parliamentarians and political activists to sensitizing the masses on the voter
registration exercise.
Mrs Wina says there is an apparent apathy in communities.
She was speaking when she delivered a ministerial statement on the 2015 voter registration exercise.
Mrs Wina says the government is seeking ways to accelerate the exercise before some areas become inaccessible due to
rains.
