Allow me to add my thought on the above subject in my own personal capacity and not as COBUSU Publicity Secretary.
Its very shameful and disappointing to note that the PF government has continued on its Barbaric behavior of having abnormal extensions to the academic calendar on baseless excuses
that government has no money for the bursaries better known as BC, this casual approach of handling tertiary education is very retrogressive, pathetic and should be highly condemned by
all because government is always aware of the academic calendars of both UNZA and CBU.
To continue experiencing this fracas
since 2013,2014 and 2015 is very unfortunate and is a clear indication that government is full of incompetent
people that are unable to plan well enough and avoid this mess that public universities face for consecutive years now since the PF took power as this was never the case in the 20years of the MMD regime, maybe this proves the point that the late president Mr Sata said "that PF is just full of useless
Ministers."
It is astonishing to note that government has never run out of money to finance elections logistics from the uncounted
deliberate made bye-elections were gigantic sums of money is spent at the expense of the poor Zambians that
need that money to acquire an education so that they can become productive and economic drivers of our mother
Zambia because every well meaning government strives to ensure that education is set as a top priority as every developed nation always prioritizes education. This situation worries me
because it leaves me with a question that if our government is unable to run two universities that's UNZA and CBU how then will it manage to run the six more public universities that are under construction?
Its is important for government to realize that Zambia is mainly composed of the youths and on average every single youth
or student comes form an average of five people at family level mathematically implying that 14000+2600 (first years)
times five people.. are affected by this reckless move by government which will cost them because this is playing with politics which they seem to treasure more.
Lastly I want to make a humble appeal to government to be able to plan in advance and set better policies to ensure that things
stay normal and undisturbed as this is inconveniencing to concerned parties that is parents, students, sponsors, university
management and government at large.
