Youths in Chingazi ward of Kasenengwa Constituency in
Chipata have complained that they face challenges in
accessing money under YDF, Youth Development Fund.
Daniel Miti, of Msamaliya Zone, said youths in rural areas
have no access to the funds meant to empower young
people.
He said accessing the funds can help youths, who are
unemployed to engage in income generating activities to
improve their livelihoods.
Speaking when Chipata Mayor, Sinoya Mwale held a meeting
in the area, Daniel said that youths in urban areas are the
ones benefiting, a situation he described as worrying.
And Eastern Province Youth Development Coordinator,
Trywel Moonga, acknowledged that a lot programs meant
for young people usually target youths in urban areas.
Mr. Moonga, however, advised the youths to follow the right
procedure when applying for the funds.
He said that it is possible for both groups and individuals in
rural areas to also access the loans, if they follow all the
right procedures.
