NGOCC urge victims of rape cases to report to police

The Non-Governmental Organisation Coordinating Council (NGOCC) says perpetrators of rape go scot free because most victims do not report cases of rape to relevant authorities.

NGOCC board Chairperson Sarah Longwe says the law was put in place to punish wrongdoers and it is up to citizens to use it or ignore it.

Ms Longwe advised all rape victims not to bath after being raped but to quickly rush to the police.

She has further appealed to all media organisations to study the law of the country so that they can disseminate accurate information to the public.

Mrs Longwe further says that even third parties can report such crimes so that the police can institute investigations.
