The first ever prestigious event in the province dubbed Luapula expo and conference has officially been opened by His Excellent, President of Zambia Edgar Changwa Lungu.
The President assured the people of Luapula that government will work tirelessly in advertising the province
for investment.
He said Luapula has the potential to contribute to the growth of the national economy.
The Head of State stressed that more needs to be done so as to market the province to would be local and international investors.
The expo is taking place in Mansa and started on 26th and will end on 31st July, 2017 under the theme “ Linking Investors to Luapula Province to unlock the Economic Potential”.
The event has attracted 3.5 million metric tonnes rice production in the plains; 2850 fish farms; expansion of tea production; introduction of 1.7 million tonnes per annum coffee production; opening up of 9 small scale gemstone mining firms; restocking of Kasanka National Park; declaration of Samfya as a tourism economic zone; setting up of three large scale agro-processing firms; construction of a tourism sports complex in Samfya; upgrading of facilities at Mumbuluma falls, Lumangwe falls and Ntumba Chushi falls and mass irrigation schemes in Chembe and Milengi.
